Is it important to hold an engagement party?
July 6, 2017
Firstly, let The Chichester Hotel congratulate you on your engagement, you know you are allowed to take a breath and enjoy the moment! It seems like there is so much to organise, but you can have some fun leading up to the ‘big day’ and this includes the engagement party.
Historically, the engagement party was hosted by the bride’s parents to formally announce the pending nuptials but more recently this is typically organised by the happy couple. A few considerations when organizing the party: it is a celebration and you need to enjoy it but you do not need to take out a second mortgage! Establishments like The Chichester Hotel offer competitive venue hire prices for the historic Essex Barn which also has the WOW factor. You do not have to offer a traditional three course dinner – a hot and cold finger or fork buffet will suffice. Chicken satay, salmon and dill quiche and mini sausages are just a few items on our menu but the possibilities are endless.
So why is it important to hold an engagement party? Well you can stop Auntie Doris keeping asking, “When are you getting married?” and annoying you. Not only is this also a celebration of love which can be shared with all of your friends and family, but it can also be where ground rules are laid for the future: this is my party and I will have salmon quiche if I want to!
