The Wedding Procession
May 4, 2018
The traditional wedding procession explained.
Here comes the bride and everyone else too………
With the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just around the corner, we are all waiting with baited breath to see Meghan in her wedding dress and all the other beautiful outfits worn by the mother of the bride through to all the VIP guests that have been invited.
An Essex wedding isn’t any different….
We all anticipate the moment the blushing bride walks down the aisle, but as with the Royal Wedding there will be notable VIP members at your wedding party who will be playing important roles on your day.
Below you will see the traditional wedding procession, it will help you ensure everyone is well rehearsed for their walk down the aisle.
Mother of the bride
Enters first, signalling the start of the procession, once at the front, she would sit to the left.
Groom
Following the mother of the bride, the groom would traditionally enter and take position at the front of the aisle with his best man.
Bridesmaids
Would follow before maid of honour, who is responsible for assisting the bride with her dress making sure the bride is prepped and also hold the bouquet during service.
Flower girls
Last to enter before the bride, usually with a basket of petals, scattering them as she walks behind.
Father of the bride & bride
Last, and the most exciting part, is the bride, traditionally escorted down the aisle by her father who ‘gives her away’ and shakes the groom’s hand to give him his blessing.
The romance of our beautiful Essex Barn lends itself to the wedding procession perfectly, with its high vaulted ceilings and traditional beams it is the perfect setting.
